Boulder's Culinary Stories
Born in a Crisis.
Built for Community.
In 2020, when Boulder’s restaurant industry faced unprecedented shutdowns, A Bite of Boulder was created to help. Volume 1 brought together local chefs, restaurants, and supporters to raise funds and celebrate the people who make Boulder taste like Boulder.
It became a keepsake. A gift. A love letter to the city.
Featuring 30 restaurants and 43 recipes, A Bite of Boulder features a variety of dishes from your beloved restaurants like:
-
Colorado-inspired Cactus & Corn Fritters from Zolo Grill
-
“The OG” Kale Salad from OAK at Fourteenth
-
Chef Yukiji Iwasa’s legendary Hamachi Carpaccio at Japango
-
Santo’s unforgettable Red Chile Posole
-
Soul-warming Udon Kombu Noodle Bowl from Leaf

"This cookbook serves as a reminder to not lose sight of belonging to so many places outside your home. Restaurants provide that diversity of belonging to many other places, no matter where you live. In telling the story of these restaurants, and the thousands of people who pour their hearts and souls into each dish - may this keep us connected. As you turn each page, I wish upon you the joy in remembering, the re-living. Perhaps these restaurants hosted you for celebrations, new beginnings, hosting visitors, or even just a quiet, peaceful meal. Just as I hope there are memories, I hope there are discoveries. May you spend time with these pages, exploring the eateries and the people who are your neighbors."
